About the founders

Johannes Koeppel
CEO & Co-Founder
Johannes has 5 years of travel industry experience working for various airlines and organizing tours. Before obtaining his MBA from Berkeley-Haas, Johannes worked for MSF and the Red Cross (ICRC), visiting political prisoners and managing a team of 14 in Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. He speaks 7 languages fluently.
Garib Mehdiyev
CTO & Co-Founder
Garib has more than 10 years of Dev-Ops and IT-management experience. Before coming to the US, he was the CTO for Unibank, one of the largest private banks in in Azerbaijan. Upon arriving in the US in 2009, Garib founded and sold his first company. Previously to joining WeTravel full-time, Garib was a senior engineer at Fuze Inc.
Zaky Prabowo
CMO & Co-Founder
Zaky holds an MBA from Berkeley-Haas and has done user acquisition for 2 venture-backed hospitality market-places: EatWith (SF) and GetNinjas (Sao Paulo). Before, he was a consultant at McKinsey and a special aide to the President of Indonesia. He co-founded Indorelawan, the first marketplace in Indonesia connecting volunteers and NGOs.

Transparent Selection Process

While we're building a team of outstanding individuals, we follow a thorough yet rapid selection process for all our open positions. Here's what you can expect:

  • First assessment of your application CV, Resume, cover letter to ensure there is a match in experience and skills. Each application is reviewed by a real human being with the care and attention you deserve.
  • Phone interview - we're looking for enthusiasm for our product and vision, clear presentation of your greatest achievements and great English to be able to collaborate with the rest of the team.
  • Technical roles - we set an assignment or take home test to highlight your analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Sales roles - we include role-plays in our video or in-person interviews to know how you will represent our business and deal with customers.
  • Management interview - final video or in-person interview with a member of the management team to ensure all expectations are in line and there is a strong cultural fit.
  • Formal offer and contracts.
